For first-time installation and pairing, follow the "iOS Setup Wizard" in the Medjed desktop app. This page covers what to do after setup, day to day and week to week.
Most importantTurn on LocalDevVPN firstMedjed can only change your location when the VPN icon shows at the top right.
Once a weekRefresh in SideStoreApps installed with a free Apple ID only last 7 days. Refresh them before they expire.
Don't turn it offKeep Developer Mode onIf Developer Mode is turned off in iPhone Settings, location simulation won't work.
①Every use: turn on LocalDevVPN first
Changing your location with Medjed on the phone, and installing and refreshing apps in SideStore, all go through LocalDevVPN. If it isn't connected, Medjed will keep showing "Not connected" (未連線).
Open LocalDevVPN and tap ConnectThe first time, iOS asks whether to add VPN configurations → tap "Allow" and enter your passcode.
Check that the VPN icon appears at the top right of your iPhoneIf you see the icon, you're connected. If you don't, swipe down from the top-right corner to open Control Center and check.
Open Medjed. Once the status changes to Connected (已連線), you're readyNow you can teleport, play routes, and use the joystick.
No need to reconnect every timeThe VPN stays connected. If the icon is still at the top right, you don't need to tap anything. After your phone restarts, open LocalDevVPN and tap "Connect" again.
Is this VPN safe?LocalDevVPN is a "local VPN": traffic just loops around inside your phone and is not sent to any server. Leaving it on doesn't affect normal browsing or your other apps.
②Every 7 days: refresh in SideStore
Apps installed with a free Apple ID only work for 7 days at a time. Refresh before they expire and you can keep using them, with none of your data lost.
First, make sure LocalDevVPN is connectedThe VPN icon needs to be at the top right (see ①). Without it, the refresh will fail.
Open SideStore → My Apps at the bottomEach app shows how many days it has left, e.g. "7 DAYS".
Tap Refresh All at the top leftWait for it to finish. When the count is back to 7 days, it worked. SideStore refreshes itself at the same time.
TipDon't wait until the last day. Refresh on a regular schedule every 5–6 days, or set a weekly repeating reminder in the iPhone Reminders app. Medjed reminds you too: from 48 hours before it expires, an orange banner stays at the top of the app; if you've allowed notifications, you also get a "Medjed signature expiring soon" (Medjed 簽名快到期) notification 48 hours and again 24 hours before.
Refresh failed?First check for the VPN icon at the top right, then go to Settings at the bottom of SideStore and make sure your Apple ID is still signed in (it must be the same Apple ID you used to install). Still not working? Disconnect LocalDevVPN, connect again, and try once more. If it only started failing after an iOS update, see this item in ⑤.
③What if the app won't open?
If you go more than 7 days without refreshing, the app closes right away when you open it, or shows a message that it's unavailable. Here's what to do:
Situation
What to do
Medjed won't open, but SideStore still opens
Follow ②: turn on the VPN → SideStore → My Apps → Refresh All. Once refreshed, Medjed works again, and your favorites and routes are still there.
SideStore won't open either
Connect the phone to your PC and reinstall SideStore: open the Medjed desktop app → "iOS Setup Wizard" → redo step 3 (install SideStore with iloader) → open SideStore and sign in with the same Apple ID → refresh Medjed as in ②.
Open this page in Safari on your iPhone, then tap the button above. If nothing happens, you can add it manually:
SideStore → Sources at the bottom → + at the top right
Paste this URL and add ithttps://gps.medjed.app/sidestore.json
When there's a new version: SideStore → My Apps → Update next to MedjedMedjed also lets you know when a new version is out. Tap the alert to open SideStore and update.
Method 2: Install the latest version directly on your phone
If nothing happens: open this download link in Safari → save the file to the Files app when it finishes → SideStore → My Apps → + at the top left → choose medjed-ios.ipa in "Downloads".
Method 3: Put it on your phone from your PC
Connect your phone to your PC by USB, then open the Medjed desktop app → "iOS Setup Wizard"
In step 5, click Put new version into SideStoreThe PC copies the latest Medjed.ipa into the SideStore folder on your phone.
On the phone: SideStore → My Apps → + at the top leftChoose On My iPhone › SideStore › Medjed.ipa to install.
⑤Troubleshooting
Open the item that matches your situation. Red text is the message you'll see on screen, or in the log at the bottom of Medjed Settings › Connection & Pairing on the phone. The iPhone app is in Chinese, so its messages and buttons are shown with the original Chinese next to the English meaning. "Medjed Settings" below means the Settings (設定) tab at the bottom of the Medjed app.
First: check your iPhone's iOS version
How you use it
iOS version
With a PC (iPhone connected by USB, location changed from the Medjed desktop app)
iOS 17 or later
Phone on its own (LocalDevVPN + Medjed on the phone)
We've tested iOS 26.6.2 and 27.0; older versions haven't been tested yet
Pairing inside the app (no PC at all)
iOS 27 or later. On iOS 26 or earlier, create the pairing file with step 6 of the desktop wizard
You can check your iOS version in iPhone Settings › General › About. If the app says in-app pairing needs iOS 27 or later (App 內配對需要 iOS 27 以上), this phone has to be paired with a PC.
Install & setup (the desktop "iOS Setup Wizard")
Wizard step 1 can't read the device, but File Explorer can see the iPhone's photos"Couldn't read the device list. Make sure Apple Devices (or iTunes) is installed, then unplug and reconnect the iPhone."
Cause: Your PC is missing Apple's USB communication service. File Explorer reads photos a different way, so seeing photos doesn't mean Medjed can reach the iPhone. "No phone detected" on the main screen has the same cause.
Search for "Apple Devices" in the Microsoft Store and install it (or install iTunes from Apple's website — either one)
Restart the PC after installing
Reconnect the iPhone and click "Re-check" in the wizard
The cable is plugged in, but the iPhone isn't detected at all"No iPhone detected. Connect it by USB, unlock it, and tap “Trust This Computer”."
Cause: The cable can only charge, not transfer data (we've seen a USB-C to Lightning cable do this — switching cables fixed it), or the phone is locked or hasn't trusted the PC yet.
Use a cable that can transfer data (an Apple cable is the most reliable)
Unlock the iPhone
When "Trust This Computer?" appears, tap "Trust" and enter your passcode
Click "Re-check" in the wizard
You tapped "Don't Trust", or the Trust prompt never appears"Couldn't establish a trusted connection with the iPhone (the pairing may have expired)."
Cause: The phone doesn't trust this PC, or the trust record has expired (common after an iOS update).
Unlock the iPhone, unplug the USB cable and plug it back in
When the Trust prompt appears, tap "Trust" and enter your passcode
No prompt: on the iPhone go to Settings › General › Transfer or Reset iPhone › Reset › Reset Location & Privacy, then reconnect (this resets location and privacy settings for all apps, so you'll need to allow them again)
Click "Re-check" in the wizard
Can't find "Developer Mode" in iPhone Settings"Off. Click the button on the right to show the option on the iPhone, then turn it on in Settings → Privacy & Security → Developer Mode."
Cause: iOS hides Developer Mode by default. The PC has to tell the phone to show the option first.
In wizard step 2, click "Show the option on iPhone"
On the iPhone: Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll to the bottom › Developer Mode › turn it on
Confirm when it asks to restart
After it restarts and you unlock it, tap "Turn On" and enter your passcode
Still not there: unplug and replug, click "Show the option on iPhone" again, or restart the iPhone once
Two iPhones are connected at once"More than one iPhone is connected. Click “Re-check”, or connect only the iPhone you want to set up and try again."
Cause: The wizard sets up one phone at a time.
Leave only the phone you want to set up plugged in
Click "Re-check" and continue
Step 3 can't find iloader, or the SideStore download seems stuck"iloader not found. Please download and install it from iloader.app first."
Cause: iloader isn't installed, or isn't in the default location. SideStore is about 28 MB downloaded from GitHub, which can take several minutes on a slow connection.
Click "Get iloader" in the wizard (download only from the official site, iloader.app)
Install to the default location, then click "Re-check" → "Open iloader"
Sign in to iloader with your own Apple ID (preferably one just for sideloading, see the FAQ) → click "SideStore (Stable)"
Several minutes is normal, so don't close it. If you see "iloader is already open", switch to its window instead of opening a second one
iloader shows an error while installing SideStore"Failed to enable wifi debugging: MissingValue"
Cause: The iPhone doesn't have a passcode set.
iPhone Settings › Face ID & Passcode (or Touch ID & Passcode) → Turn Passcode On
Go back to iloader and click "SideStore (Stable)" again
SideStore says you're not signed in when installing Medjed"OperationError 28: You are not signed in"
Cause: SideStore itself also needs to be signed in to an Apple ID — the same one you used in iloader.
Open SideStore → Settings at the bottom
Sign in with the same Apple ID you used in iloader
Install Medjed again
Wizard step 4 shows LocalDevVPN as done, but SideStore still can't install Medjed
Cause: The PC can only see whether LocalDevVPN is installed, not whether it's connected. SideStore can't install apps unless it's connected.
As in ①, open LocalDevVPN, tap Connect, and check for the VPN icon at the top right
Then install Medjed in SideStore
Step 5 "Put Medjed into SideStore" fails"SideStore isn't on the iPhone. Please finish step 3 first." / "Couldn't get the Medjed installer. Check your internet connection and try again."
Cause: SideStore isn't installed yet, the PC is offline, or the phone is locked or doesn't trust this PC.
Finish step 3 (SideStore) first
Make sure the PC is online and the phone is unlocked and trusts this PC, then click again
Once it works, on the phone: open LocalDevVPN → SideStore "My Apps" → "+" at the top left → On My iPhone › SideStore → tap "Medjed.ipa" to install
Step 6 "Create pairing file & push to app" fails"The iOS service is running but doesn't see this iPhone yet." / "The Medjed app isn't on the iPhone yet. Install it with SideStore first."
Cause: Developer Mode is off, the phone is locked, Medjed isn't installed yet, or the iOS service just started and hasn't found the phone.
Make sure Settings › Privacy & Security › Developer Mode is on
Unlock the phone, and tap "Trust" if asked
Make sure Medjed is installed through SideStore
Click "Yes" when Windows User Account Control appears
Wait a few seconds and click again
Medjed on the phone shows "Pairing file not imported""Pairing file not imported" (未匯入配對檔)
Cause: The phone hasn't been paired yet, or the pairing file didn't arrive. Medjed picks up a pairing file from the PC automatically even while it's open, so there's no need to restart the app. If the wizard says it's done but you still see this, the file usually didn't copy completely, or Medjed was deleted and reinstalled afterwards.
Open Medjed Settings › Connection & Pairing (設定 › 連線與配對) — opening this page checks for the pairing file again — and look at the log (紀錄) at the bottom
iOS 27 or later: tap "Pair this phone (iOS 27+, no PC)" (配對這支手機(iOS 27 以上,不用電腦)) and follow Pairing inside the app
iOS 26 or earlier, or the log says the format is wrong (格式不對): connect to the PC and redo wizard step 6
When the status changes to "Not connected" (未連線), tap "Connect" (連線)
Any iOS feature in the desktop app says components are missing"iOS components (Medjed's built-in Python) are missing."
Cause: The installation is incomplete, or your antivirus quarantined Medjed's files.
Add the Medjed install folder to your antivirus exclusions (restore anything in quarantine first)
Reinstall Medjed (your favorites and settings are kept)
Windows blocks the Medjed installer"Windows protected your PC"
Cause: The Medjed installer isn't digitally signed yet, so Windows treats it as coming from an unknown publisher.
Blue SmartScreen window: click "More info" → "Run anyway"
If an older version is already installed, update from inside the app instead (no SmartScreen warning)
Blocked by Smart App Control: let us know on Discord. We don't recommend turning off system protection for this
Using it with a PC (the desktop app changes the location over USB)
The buttons below are in the desktop app's "⚙ Tools" menu: "Detect device" is in the Device group, and the rest are in the iPhone group.
"Start iOS service" stays 🔴, or says it timed out"The iOS service didn't start within 30 seconds." / "Administrator permission (UAC) was declined, so the iOS service didn't start."
Cause: iOS 17 and later need a background service that runs with administrator rights. Medjed starts it automatically after you connect an iPhone (a UAC prompt appears). If you click "No" or it times out, it won't pop up again on its own for 30 minutes.
Click "⚙ Tools › Start iOS service" → click "Yes" on the UAC prompt
Make sure your Windows account is an administrator
Add the Medjed install folder to your antivirus exclusions
Still not working: close Medjed and open it again
The device list shows the iPhone, but its status stays "Unauthorized""Unauthorized"
Cause: The iOS service hasn't picked up this iPhone: the service isn't running, Developer Mode is off, the phone doesn't trust the PC, or an iOS update reset the phone's trust.
Make sure "Start iOS service" shows 🟢 (if it's 🔴, see the item above)
Make sure Developer Mode is on
Unlock the iPhone → unplug and replug USB → tap "Trust" and enter your passcode
Still Unauthorized: click "⚙ Tools › Copy diagnostic info" and paste it in a direct message to the admin on Discord (it contains your iPhone's name, its UDID and your Windows username, so don't post it in a public channel). We'll walk you through clearing the old pairing records on the PC (this needs administrator rights — please don't delete things on your own)
Sending a location fails, saying the iOS service isn't running or the device can't be found"iOS tunneld isn't running yet — start the iOS service first" (iOS tunneld 尚未啟動)
Cause: The background iOS service isn't running, or hasn't found this phone yet (Developer Mode off, not trusted, or just plugged in).
Click "⚙ Tools › Start iOS service" → click "Yes" on UAC, and wait for 🟢
Click "⚙ Tools › Detect device"
Make sure Developer Mode is on and the phone is unlocked, then send again
The desktop app says the location was set, but the iPhone's map didn't move
Cause: An app that's already open is still using the old location, or the iOS service isn't running.
Swipe the map app away in the app switcher, then open it again
Make sure "Start iOS service" shows 🟢
Keep the iPhone unlocked
After unplugging, the iPhone stays stuck at the simulated location"✅ iPhone simulated location cleared"
Cause: A simulated location stays on the iPhone until it's cleared — unplugging doesn't clear it. After clearing, your real location comes back within 30–60 seconds (faster outdoors).
Before unplugging, click "⚙ Tools › Clear simulation before unplug" and wait until it says it's cleared (✅)
Already unplugged: on the iPhone, turn Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services off and on again
Or turn on Airplane Mode for 30 seconds, then turn it off
Restart the iPhone only as a last resort
The desktop "Photos" window can't export originals, or can't connect"The iOS connection service isn't ready yet. Connect your iPhone on the main screen first."
Cause: With "Optimize iPhone Storage" on, originals are in iCloud and only thumbnails are on the phone, so no tool can export the originals. Photos also relies on the PC's iOS service.
To export originals: on the iPhone, change Settings › Photos to "Download and Keep Originals" and wait for the download to finish
Can't connect: on the main screen, make sure the iOS service shows 🟢 and the iPhone is listed, then reload
Phone on its own: can't connect
Stays "Not connected" (未連線), or shows "Disconnected" (已斷線(tunnel 建立失敗)/(連線沒有回應)/(DVT 連線失敗))"Can't see LocalDevVPN's network interface — open LocalDevVPN and make sure it shows connected" (看不到 LocalDevVPN 的網路介面)
Cause: Medjed reaches the phone's own location service through LocalDevVPN. If LocalDevVPN isn't connected or is stuck, or the phone had no Wi-Fi while the connection was being set up, you'll see this.
Open LocalDevVPN and tap Connect; the VPN icon must appear at the top right
Make sure Settings › Privacy & Security › Developer Mode is still on
Make sure the phone is on Wi-Fi or a hotspot (see the next item for why)
In Medjed, tap "Reconnect" (重新連線) on the red banner, or tap "Connect" (連線) in Settings › Connection & Pairing
Still no luck: disconnect LocalDevVPN and connect it again; if that doesn't help, close Medjed and open it again (with Wi-Fi or a hotspot)
Out and about on cellular only, and it won't reconnect after a restart or after Medjed was closed"A connection can't be set up on cellular data alone (an iOS limitation)." (只有行動網路時無法建立連線)
Cause: To set up a new connection, the iPhone must be connected to a Wi-Fi network or hotspot — cellular alone won't work. Once the connection is up, you can turn Wi-Fi off and keep going on cellular.
Join any Wi-Fi network, or another phone's Personal Hotspot
Wait for Medjed to show "Connected" (已連線)
After that you can turn off Wi-Fi or the hotspot and continue on cellular
Connect somewhere with Wi-Fi before you head out. After the phone restarts or Medjed is closed, you'll need Wi-Fi or a hotspot again
Everything was fine, then it keeps failing and says the pairing file is invalid"The pairing file may no longer be valid." (配對檔可能已失效) / "Disconnected (pairing file invalid)" (已斷線(配對檔失效))
Cause: Pairing files occasionally stop working on their own. They may also stop working after an iOS update or a phone reset.
iOS 27 or later (no PC)
Connect LocalDevVPN, with the phone on Wi-Fi or a hotspot
Medjed Settings › Connection & Pairing → gear icon at the top right → "Re-pair (no PC)" (重新配對(不用電腦))
Connect the phone to the PC and open the desktop "iOS Setup Wizard"
Do step 6 to put the pairing file back
Pairing inside the app on iOS 27 fails, or Medjed doesn't appear in Settings"Pairing failed or was cancelled. Make sure the phone is on Wi-Fi…" (配對失敗或被取消)
Cause: Pairing works by broadcasting on the local network, so the phone needs Wi-Fi or a hotspot, and Medjed needs Local Network permission. When you switch to the Settings app, the pairing code is sent to you as a notification.
Join Wi-Fi or a hotspot and turn on LocalDevVPN
Medjed Settings › Connection & Pairing → "Pair this phone (iOS 27+, no PC)" (配對這支手機(iOS 27 以上,不用電腦)). If it was paired before, use "Re-pair (no PC)" under the gear icon at the top right
Tap "Allow" if asked about notifications
Open iPhone Settings › Privacy & Security › Developer Mode, scroll down, and tap the Medjed entry (named "Medjed-" followed by letters and numbers)
Enter the 6-digit pairing code shown in Medjed (or in the notification), then go back to Medjed
If it fails, wait a few seconds before trying again — don't tap repeatedly
Network diagnostics says "blocked by system policy", or Medjed never appears in Settings while pairing"EACCES/EPERM blocked by system policy (probably local network permission)" (EACCES/EPERM 被系統政策擋下)
Cause: Medjed doesn't have Local Network permission. It needs it to reach the phone's own location service and to broadcast while pairing.
iPhone Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network
Turn Medjed on
Go back to Medjed and tap "Reconnect", or pair again
Status shows "Disconnected (developer disk image not mounted)"(已斷線(開發者映像未掛載))
Cause: The phone's developer components didn't load. We're still looking into why.
Make sure Settings › Privacy & Security › Developer Mode is on
Take a screenshot and send it, along with the log, in a direct message to the admin on Discord (see Still stuck?)
Right after a restart, Medjed says it can't read the device data"Can't read the phone's device data, please try again later" (讀不到手機的裝置資料,請稍後再試)
Cause: The iPhone hasn't been unlocked since it restarted, so iOS temporarily won't let apps read data stored on the phone.
Unlock the iPhone
Wait a few seconds and try again
Location not changing or jumping back (phone on its own)
The location suddenly jumps back to your real one, with a red banner or a notification"Location interrupted (LocalDevVPN turned off)… Turn on LocalDevVPN and it will recover automatically." (定位已中斷(LocalDevVPN 已關閉)) / notification (Medjed 定位已中斷)
Cause: LocalDevVPN was turned off or dropped. Also, if Medjed is swiped away in the app switcher or the phone restarts, the location returns to your real one right away (the app is already closed in those cases, so there's no notification).
First stop using the app that relies on your location
Open LocalDevVPN and tap Connect; Medjed recovers automatically (you'll get a "Medjed reconnected" (Medjed 已恢復連線) notification)
Or tap "Reconnect" on the red banner. If it doesn't recover and the phone is on cellular only, join Wi-Fi or a hotspot first (see cellular only)
Don't swipe Medjed away in the app switcher. After a restart, the phone needs Wi-Fi or a hotspot to reconnect
It disconnects after you switch apps or lock the screen for a while"Background location: no permission" (背景定位:沒有權限)
Cause: Background keep-alive is turned off, or Medjed has no location permission, so iOS suspends Medjed in the background. The silent audio is practically inaudible and won't interrupt your music; the locations that background location keep-alive receives aren't used by the app, and aren't uploaded to the Medjed server.
Medjed Settings › Connection & Pairing → gear icon at the top right
Turn on both "Silent audio keep-alive" (無聲音訊保活) and "Background location keep-alive" (背景定位保活)
iPhone Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › Medjed → choose "While Using the App"
You tapped stop, but the location is still stuck at the simulated spot"Not connected right now; the simulated location will be cleared when the VPN comes back" (目前沒連上,VPN 回來恢復連線時會順便清除模擬定位)
Cause: Medjed wasn't connected when you tapped stop (usually LocalDevVPN was off), so the clear command couldn't get through.
Open LocalDevVPN and tap Connect
Go back to Medjed and wait for "Connected"; it clears automatically
Still stuck: turn iPhone Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services off and on again
You sent a location or started a route, but nothing moved"Connecting… will send once connected" (連線中…連上後會自動傳送) / "Not connected to the iPhone yet; the route will start once connected" (還沒連上 iPhone,連上後會自動開始走)
Cause: Medjed isn't connected yet, or the phone isn't paired yet. "Simulating (connection lost)" (模擬中(連線中斷)) on the map has the same cause.
Open LocalDevVPN and tap Connect
Put the phone on Wi-Fi or a hotspot
In Settings › Connection & Pairing, check that it says "Connected"; once connected, it sends the location or starts the route automatically
On the same page, find Medjed → choose "While Using the App"
Signing, notifications & updates
No refresh reminders, disconnect alerts or pairing-code notifications
Cause: Medjed's notification permission is off. The app asks only once — the first time you tap Connect or Pair — so after that you have to turn it on in Settings. Without notification permission, refresh reminders aren't scheduled either, and you'll only see the red and orange banners inside the app.
Go back to Medjed (refresh reminders are rescheduled automatically when you return to the app)
"Signature expires" (簽名到期) in Medjed Settings shows "can't read" (讀不到)
Cause: The app can't read its own signing info, so it can't schedule refresh reminders.
Check how many days Medjed has left in SideStore › My Apps instead
Set a reminder in the iPhone Reminders app that repeats every 5–6 days
After an iOS update, SideStore refresh keeps failing
Cause: After an iOS update, SideStore's own pairing file may no longer be valid.
First go through "Refresh failed?" in ② (VPN icon, SideStore Apple ID)
Still failing: connect the phone to the PC, open iloader → "Manage Pairing File" → click "Place" for SideStore
Or redo step 3 of the desktop wizard to reinstall SideStore (with the same Apple ID)
Tapping "Update with SideStore" (用 SideStore 更新) does nothing, or opens the website"Medjed has a new version" (Medjed 有新版) "Turn on LocalDevVPN before updating." (更新前要先打開 LocalDevVPN。)
Cause: SideStore can't install anything without LocalDevVPN. If Medjed can't find SideStore on the phone, it opens "④ Update Medjed" on this page instead.
SideStore fails halfway through downloading Medjed (e.g. error -1005)
Cause: On a slow or unstable network, the download can drop partway through. Switching away from SideStore during the download may also interrupt it.
Connect to Wi-Fi
Keep SideStore on screen during the download
If it fails, tap again
Keeps failing: use method 3 in ④ to put it on the phone from your PC
"Check for updates" says it can't connect"Can't connect, try again later" (連不上,稍後再試)
Cause: The phone is offline, or the website can't be reached right now. Medjed also checks on its own when you open it (at most once every 6 hours).
Make sure the phone is online
After a few minutes, tap Settings › Other › Check for updates (設定 › 其他 › 檢查更新) again
Account, trial & subscription
Medjed asks you to start a trial or sign in, or the trial won't start"This phone's trial has already been used…" (這支手機的試用已經用完了) / "Too many trials started on this network today, please try tomorrow" (這個網路今天開始的試用太多了)
Cause: Simulating location on an iPhone requires a license. Each iPhone can use the trial only once — deleting and reinstalling the app doesn't reset it — and only a limited number of trials can be started from the same network each day.
Never tried it: tap "Free 14-day trial" (免費試用 14 天)
Already subscribed: tap "Already subscribed: sign in with email" (已經訂閱:用 Email 登入)
Trial used up: subscribe, then sign in with your email
Too many trials on this network: try again tomorrow
The email sign-in code never arrives (including right after paying)"…If it never arrives, it may not be the email you purchased with" (一直沒收到:可能不是購買時用的 Email) / "Sent too many times, try again in … minutes" (寄送次數太多了) / "Just sent one, resend in … seconds" (剛剛已經寄過了)
Cause: A code is only sent to an email that currently has an active subscription, and the screen doesn't say why when nothing is sent. Common cases: the email isn't the one you paid with; you just paid and the payment platform hasn't notified our server yet; or the subscription has expired or is paused. Also, the same email can get a code only once every 60 seconds and at most 5 times an hour.
Use the email you entered when paying (the one on your payment receipt), and check your spam and promotions folders
Just paid: wait a few minutes, then tap "Resend" (重新寄送)
Subscription expired: renew on our website first. Paused: resume it in the Polar customer portal (don't pay again, or you'll end up with two subscriptions)
Told to wait: once the time shown on screen has passed, tap "Resend"
Still nothing: send the email you paid with in a direct message to the admin on Discord (not in a public channel, and never send your card number)
Sign-in fails after entering the code"Wrong code" (驗證碼錯誤) / "Code expired, please resend" (驗證碼已過期,請重新寄送) / "Too many attempts, try again in 10 minutes" (嘗試太多次了,請 10 分鐘後再試)
Cause: A typo, a code from an older email (once you tap "Resend", the old code stops working), or the code has expired. A code is valid for 10 minutes; after that, the screen may only say "Wrong code" rather than "expired".
Use the 6-digit code from the newest email
After 10 minutes, or after 5 wrong tries with the same code, tap "Resend" to get a new one
If it says too many attempts, wait 10 minutes
After entering the code, it says there's no active subscription or the subscription has expired"This email has no active subscription" (這個 Email 沒有有效的訂閱) / "Subscription expired, please renew and sign in again" (訂閱已到期,請續訂後再登入)
Cause: This is rare. Codes are only sent to emails with an active subscription, so this usually means the subscription expired or was paused between receiving the code and signing in.
Expired: renew on our website first. Paused: resume it in the Polar customer portal (don't pay again)
Back in Medjed, tap "Resend" and sign in with the new code
Sure your subscription is active and still seeing this: send a direct message to the admin on Discord (see Still stuck?)
Simulation stopped by itself, and the screen says "Subscription expired" (訂閱已到期) or "Trial ended" (試用期已結束)"Location simulation has stopped automatically, and your phone is back at its real location." (模擬定位已經自動停止,手機已回到真實位置。)
Cause: When the subscription expires or the trial ends, Medjed stops simulating automatically. The trial is one-time only; after it ends, you need a subscription to keep using it.
Tap "Renew" (續訂) and complete the payment (if your trial ended, this is where you subscribe)
Back in Medjed, tap "Renewed — sign in again" (已續訂,重新登入) and sign in with the email you paid with
It says your subscription is paused"Your subscription is paused. Resume it in the Polar customer portal" (訂閱目前暫停中)
Cause: The subscription has been paused on the payment platform (Polar).
Tap "Resume subscription" (恢復訂閱) — it opens the Polar customer portal
Resume the subscription there. Don't pay again, or you'll end up with two subscriptions
Back in Medjed, tap "Resumed — sign in again" (已恢復,重新登入)
It says the phone's time is wrong"The phone's time is wrong. Turn on Set Automatically and try again" (手機時間不正確)
Cause: The phone's clock is too far off from the correct time, so the security check fails.
iPhone Settings › General › Date & Time
Turn on "Set Automatically"
Try again in Medjed
If the whole screen is locked: subscribers tap "Renewed — sign in again" (已續訂,重新登入) and sign in with their email. On a trial, also tap "Renewed — sign in again" first, then on the sign-in screen tap back (top left) to return to My Account (我的帳號) and tap "Free 14-day trial" (免費試用 14 天) — this picks up your existing trial; it doesn't restart it
"Network connection needed" (需要網路連線) appears, and simulation stopped or won't start"You need to go online once to confirm your license before simulating (being offline for up to 30 minutes while in use is fine)." (要連網確認一次授權才能開始模擬)
Cause: After the phone restarts, Medjed needs to go online once to confirm your license. If the phone has no internet at all for more than 30 minutes while in use, Medjed also stops simulating automatically and the location returns to your real one.
Get the phone online (cellular or Wi-Fi is fine)
Tap "Retry" (重試) or "Check again" (重新確認)
If it says the server is having temporary trouble (伺服器暫時異常), just wait — the app retries on its own
Send your location again. Keep this in mind before spending a long time somewhere without signal (mountains, basements)
Signing in on a new iPhone says the account is registered to another device, or that you have to wait 7 days"This account is already registered to another device" (這個帳號已經登記了另一支裝置) / "You can switch phones only once every 7 days" (7 天內只能換一次手機)
Cause: One account can register 1 PC + 1 iPhone + 1 Android. You can switch phones once every 7 days (signing out the old phone first still counts as a switch).
Sure you want to switch: tap "Switch to this one" (換成這支), and the old phone gets signed out
Told to wait: sign in after the date shown on screen
To free the slot first: on the old phone, open Medjed Settings › My Account › Sign out this phone (設定 › 我的帳號 › 登出這支手機)
Your old iPhone is suddenly locked"This phone has been removed from the account" (這支手機已從帳號移除)
Cause: Someone signed in to the same account on another iPhone and chose "Switch to this one".
To keep using this phone: tap "Renewed — sign in again" (已續訂,重新登入), sign in with your email and choose "Switch to this one" (once every 7 days)
If you didn't do this yourself: contact us on Discord
New phone, reinstall, iOS update, new PC
After deleting and reinstalling Medjed, favorites are gone, you have to sign in again, or it shows "Pairing file not imported""Deleting the app removes them too. Before switching phones or reinstalling, use Export backup and save it to iCloud Drive." (刪掉 App 會一起不見)
Cause: Favorites, automatic backups and the pairing file are all stored inside the app, so deleting the app deletes them too. Trial history stays with the phone, so reinstalling doesn't reset it.
Before deleting: Medjed Settings › Data backup (資料備份) → "Export backup" (匯出備份), and save it to iCloud Drive
After reinstalling: tap "Import backup" (匯入備份) in the same place
Pair again: on iOS 27 or later, use "Pair this phone" in the app; on iOS 26 or earlier, connect to the PC and do wizard step 6
Subscribers: sign in again with the same email. Signing in again on the same phone doesn't count as switching phones. On a trial: go to Settings › My Account (設定 › 我的帳號) and tap "Free 14-day trial" (免費試用 14 天) again — this picks up your existing trial; it doesn't restart it
New iPhone, phone reset, or iOS reinstalled"After signing out, this phone can no longer simulate location, and the iPhone slot is freed for another phone." (登出後這支手機就不能模擬定位)
Cause: A new (or reset) phone needs to be set up and paired again, and one account can only register one iPhone at a time.
If you're switching phones, first on the old phone: Medjed "Export backup" to iCloud Drive → Settings › My Account › Sign out this phone
Connect to the PC and go through the "iOS Setup Wizard" from the start (install SideStore, add Medjed, pair; on iOS 27 or later, pairing can be done in the app)
In Medjed on the phone: "Import backup" → sign in with your email
Can't connect after an iOS update
Cause: An iOS update can invalidate the phone's trust in the PC and Medjed's pairing file.
After switching or reinstalling your PC, the desktop app says your license or subscription is in use on another PC"This license is bound to another PC (…). Unbind it on that PC with "Switch PC", or contact support on Discord."
Cause: A license can only be used on one PC at a time, and you can switch PCs once every 7 days.
Old PC still available: on the old PC, click "Switch PC (unbind this machine)", then enter the same license key on the new PC
Subscription with email sign-in: sign in on the new PC and confirm when asked "Move it to this PC?" (the old PC gets signed out)
Old PC already wiped and can't be unbound: send the old PC code shown in brackets (or your license key) in a direct message to the admin on Discord and we'll take care of it. Never post the code or your license key in a public channel (a license key works like a password — someone else could use it)
On the new PC, tap "Trust" on the iPhone again. If Medjed on the phone was already connecting fine, leave it; if it can't connect, do wizard step 6 on the new PC
Other
Importing a GPX route or a backup file on the phone fails"Not a valid GPX file" (這不是有效的 GPX 檔) / "No route found in the file (needs at least 2 points)" (檔案裡找不到路線(至少要 2 個點)) / "This isn't a Medjed backup file" (這不是 Medjed 的備份檔)
Cause: The wrong file, an invalid GPX file, or a bad point in the route.
Make sure you picked a .gpx file, or a backup file made with Medjed's "Export backup"
A route needs at least 2 points
If it says one segment is … km long (有一段長達 … km) after importing: open that route, tap "✏️ Edit points" (✏️ 編輯點) and delete the bad point (e.g. 0,0)
Still stuck? Find us on DiscordPlease include: your phone model / iOS version (both in iPhone Settings › General › About) / the Medjed app version on the phone (Settings › Other › Version, 設定 › 其他 › 版本) / the Medjed desktop app version (click "🔄 Check for updates" to see the current version) / screenshots / a screenshot of the log at the bottom of Medjed Settings › Connection & Pairing (設定 › 連線與配對).
If the phone can't connect, first go to Settings › Connection & Pairing → gear icon at the top right → "Run network diagnostics" (跑一次網路診斷), then take a screenshot of the log. If we need more, we'll ask for the full log files (medjed.log and idevice.log in the Files app › On My iPhone › Medjed) or, if you use it with a PC, the output of "⚙ Tools › Copy diagnostic info" in the desktop app. Send log screenshots, log files, diagnostic info, license keys and your payment email only by direct message to the admin on Discord — never in a public channel. If the number in brackets under Settings › Other › Version (設定 › 其他 › 版本) is 35 or lower, the log and log files may contain coordinates you simulated (updating the app doesn't clear old log files). Diagnostic info contains your iPhone's name, its UDID and your Windows username.
Never send your Apple ID password or card number.
FAQ
Why SideStore? Can't I download it from the App Store?
Medjed isn't on the App Store, so you install it with SideStore using your own Apple ID. The limitation of a free Apple ID is that you have to refresh every 7 days.
Can Medjed see my Apple ID password?
No. Your Apple ID is only entered on your phone (in SideStore) and in iloader. Medjed can't access it. We recommend using your own Apple ID, not one someone else gives you, and ideally a separate one just for sideloading (see the next question). Your Medjed account itself has no password (you sign in with an email code), so there's no Medjed password that could leak.
Which Apple ID should I use? Should I create a separate one?
We recommend creating a separate Apple ID just for sideloading, with two-factor authentication turned on. Use it only to sign in to iloader and SideStore. If something happens to that Apple ID (for example, Apple asks you to reset its password or temporarily locks it), your everyday iCloud, photos and payments aren't affected.
Create the new Apple ID on Apple's official site, account.apple.com (you need an email address that isn't already used for an Apple ID)
You don't need to sign out of iCloud on your phone. Sign in with the new Apple ID only in iloader and SideStore
iloader and SideStore must use the same Apple ID
Good to know: to refresh every 7 days, SideStore stores this Apple ID's password in your phone's Keychain. iloader only saves it on your PC if you tick "Save Credentials", so don't tick it on a shared PC. Only download iloader from iloader.app. Don't use an Apple ID someone else gives you, and don't give yours to anyone. An extra Mac in your Apple ID's device list is normal (iloader and SideStore sign in as if they were a Mac).
Already installed with your everyday Apple ID? You don't have to switch. Switching means reinstalling: first "Export backup" in Medjed as described in this item, then reinstall following the "SideStore won't open either" row in ③ (this time sign in to both iloader and SideStore with the new Apple ID), then import the backup and pair again.
SideStore says I've hit the app limit
A free Apple ID can only have 3 self-installed apps like this at a time (SideStore itself counts as 1). Remove apps you don't use in SideStore › My Apps to free up a slot.
After switching phones, resetting your phone, reinstalling iOS, or switching PCs
Yes. Once you've finished the whole setup wizard, your phone can change its location on its own as long as LocalDevVPN is on; while a connection is being set up, the phone needs to be on Wi-Fi or a hotspot (see ⑤). You do need a PC for the first install (including a new or reset phone), when SideStore itself has expired and won't open (see ③), and when SideStore refresh keeps failing after an iOS update (see this item in ⑤). If the pairing file stops working, iOS 27 or later can re-pair inside the app; only iOS 26 or earlier needs a PC for that. Updates can be done on the phone (see "④ Update Medjed").
